    Dear friend,

It has been a good week for those of us who love cricket, but a much more important & successful week for many local students who received their A-Level results.

    Congratulations

I want to congratulate all our younger local residents who received their A-Level results last week and received the grades they were after.

As a regular visitor to local schools & colleges, I know many students who have been working really hard for over two years to get the best results they possibly can. I can't think of anything worse than being told that A Levels have been "dumbed down" or made too easy once you get good results - it is really insulting to the students, their teachers & their families (who support them throughout their studies).

I am sure that everyone reading this email would agree that seeing state-schools improve year-on-year is a good thing - and something worth praising.

I also think that these results show that you 'reap what you sow' - and by continuing to invest in our education system, we continue to see improvements in education standards.

Sadly, for some, not everyone will have got the results they hoped for. If you haven't got the grades you want or a place at University - do not panic. There is really good advice around from our local careers advisors
