Labour's recordcharan.jpg
  • There are 49 more police officers in Wandsworth than ten years ago.

  • Sadiq secured the introduction of safer neighbourhood police teams a year early – we now have 8 teams dedicated to tackling crime in each part of the Tooting constituency.

  • Crime in Wandsworth is down by more than a third since 2002 – Labour’s policies have really worked!

Sadiq's pledge
  • Labour will protect the police budget.

  • Labour will require neighbourhood police teams to spend at least 80% of their time out on patrol.

  • Further action against violent crime, including domestic violence.

  • Sadiq will continue to build links between the police and the local community, so the police focus on the problems that really matter to local people.

The Tory threat
  • London Mayor Boris Johnson is cutting 455 police officers.

  • The Tories won’t promise to protect the police budget if elected – when in power in the 1990s, they slashed police numbers.

  • They voted against 5-year minimum jail terms for carrying illegal guns.
