Lorries are banned from Rectory Lane. But that doesn't stop them from using it, disturbing residents at all times of day and night. Local residents decided to collect a petition, and asked the Labour campaign team to help. We presented it to Wandsworth Council in April, and Councillor Billi Randall followed up to make sure they took action. As a result, council staff are using their CCTV vehicle to enforce the ban. Penalty Charge Notices are being issued, to make lorry owners' pay for breaking the rules. Council officers have to tail lorries along Rectory Lane to prove they're not making a delivery, or dropping someone off. Cllr. Billi Randall said, "We are working with our MP Sadiq Khan to make it easier for the council to catch offenders — they should be able to stop and question lorry drivers. We have also persuaded the council to repair the worst potholes caused by the lorries." Cllr. Rex Osborn said, "I'm pleased the council have finally taken action — Rectory Lane residents shouldn't have to put up with all this noise and disturbance. This is a good example of how we work with residents to resolve local problems."
