Born and raised in Tooting, Sadiq feels privileged to be part of a community which is a better place for being both multicultural and inclusive.

Consequently Sadiq has always fought for the rights of all and abhors cultural and racial prejudice of any kind. With issues like integration and social cohesion firmly at the centre of the current political stage, the history of different British ethnic groups takes on a particular importance. Sadiq recently made a documentary about Britain’s first Black MPs for BBC Radio 4. Sadiq also remembers his radical predecessor, Shapurji Saklatvala, who was elected in 1922 and became famous for his brilliant oratory and campaign for Indian independence.
