Springfield Hospital campaign

Springfield Hospital has decided to appeal against Wandsworth Council's decision to refuse planning permission for a major re-development of the hospital site.

In December 2010 Springfield Hospital had applied to build a development of 850 housing units on the site. This was rejected by Wandsworth Council following over 4000 objections from local residents.

Sadiq succesfully lobbied for:

  • a full public inquiry
  • an evening session to ensure residents can attend after work
  • that the final decision be taken by the Secretary of State

The inquiry will be in Conference Room A, Building 14, Springfield Hospital.  A map of the site with the location can be downloaded here.

Full details of the appeal and inquiry can be found at: http://www.springfieldhospitalappeal.co.uk/

All comments submitted to Wandsworth Council as part of the original planning application will be considered as part of the appeal.

  • Sadiq's letter to the hospital outlining the reasons he is objecting to the plans can be read here.

The new plans include a reduction in building heights and the number of units (1200 to 850), but also proposals to open up an additional vehicle access point on Hebdon Road.
