Sadiq’s Safer Streets Campaign has had a
number of notable successes in improving road safety outside local
Primary Schools, and this has lead to Sadiq winning national road
safety charity Brake’s ‘Parliamentarian of the Month’ award.
So far Sadiq’s campaign has made a real difference at these Primary Schools:
Sellincourt Primary School — Bollards have been installed at a dangerous crossing and new signs have been put up warning drivers to slow down.
Gatton School — a new one-way system has been introduced on Broadwater Road, the
roads around the school have been narrowed making them safer to cross
and a school crossing officer has been introduced.
Fircroft Primary School — Bollards have been introduced to stop drivers driving onto the pavement next to the school entrance.
Furzedown School — A new raised zebra crossing is being installed at the site of the
school crossing. This is part of a huge scheme to improve traffic
calming measures on Southcroft Road which has been agreed following
Sadiq’s successful campaign in the area.
