One of Tooting's most iconic landmarks, the Royal Arsenal Co-Operative (R.A.C.S) building on Upper Tooting Road, is threatened with demolition.

Its owners, Barrownfen Properties, have applied for planning permission to demolish the Art Deco classic building, and replace it with a hotel, student accomodation and rental flats, a community facility and shops.

If the plans go ahead Tooting will lose:

  • One of its most iconic and best looking historical buildings;
  • A community facility that is well used by local residents and community groups;
  • Tooting's only Hindu temple - which attracts thousands of people to Tooting;
  • Restaurants and shops that are part of the fabric of Tooting.

Local residents have the power to stop this development.

You can help by writing to Wandsworth Council and objecting to the planning application.

Send your objections to: Mark Brodie, Planning Officer, Town Hall, Wandsworth, SW18 2PU

Sign Sadiq's petition to stop the demolition here. The petition will be submitted to Wandsworth Council's Planning Application Committee.
