As it's Valentines Day tomorrow I thought I'd write about something on the topic of love... Today I went to the launch of 'Love in a Headscarf' by Shelina Zahra Janmohamed, one of Britain's leading Muslim writers and commentators. Taking a humorous look at the life of a Muslim woman seeking love, the book avoids the stereotyped boxes such as "oppressed" "forced marriage" or "liberated enlightenment" that are often applied to stories of Muslim women in modern literature. Shelina's voice is an important one, and the story is one that many people will relate to, and enjoy. Have a look, it's a great read!
