One of Tooting’s most iconic landmarks, the R.A.C.S building on Upper Tooting Road, is threatened with demolition.
Its owners have applied for planning permission to demolish the Art Deco classic building, and replace it with a hotel, flats, a community facility and shops. If the plans go ahead Tooting will lose:
In its place Tooting will be left with an oversized hotel and apartment block which will be completely out of keeping with the character of the area. Local residents have the power to stop this development. To read more about the development, and the campaign to stop it, click here. |
