Springfield Hospital plans decision due on Tuesday 7th December

As many of you will already be aware, Wandsworth Council’s planning department have recommended that planning permission should be granted to the Springfield Hospital re-development at next week’s Planning Application Committee (PAC).  You can read the full report here.

In my view the decision to recommend approval of these plans ignores the considered views of local residents – thousands of whom have made it clear they do not want these plans to go ahead in their current form.

However, we still have time to act and ensure that the Councillors on the PAC are under no illusions about the strength of feeling against these plans.

The committee meets next Tuesday, 7th December at 7.30pm at Wandsworth Town Hall, before then you can:
  1. Lobby your local Councillors. Your local Councillors can speak for you at the PAC next Tuesday.  Email them, call them or write to them (details here) and let them know that you want them to speak up against these plans.  They need to turn up next Tuesday.
  2. Write to the Planning Application Committee. You can write directly to the Chair of the PAC (Councillor Nick Cuff), and the Councillors who sit on it (details of all the Councillors can be found here).  They’re the ones who are going to decide if this application is given permission next Tuesday.
  3. Come to the Planning Application Committee next Tuesday, 7th December, 7.30pm at Wandsworth Town Hall.  Please turn up, bring your friends and neighbours – the more people that turn up the better.  Councillors who sit on the PAC, and will decide on the future of our local community, need to see the strength of local opinion.  The meeting will be in Wandsworth Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, Wandsworth, SW18 2PU.
  4. Forward this email to your friends, neighbours and to people who don’t believe that Wandsworth Council should let this go ahead in the face of overwhelming public opposition.

Thousands of you have done an excellent job of making your views on this clear already – we are now on the final stretch.  Please carry on the excellent work.

Write to your Councillor, write to the Planning Committee and make sure you get to the committee meeting.  We can still defeat these plans.
