Tooting MP, Sadiq Khan, has just held his sixth annual Christmas card competition for local primary school pupils.  The competition, now in its 6th year, was a huge success, with hundreds of entries from local school children that left judges astounded by the talent displayed by the young local artists. 

The lucky winner was Daisy Rolfe aged 6, from Penwortham Primary School in Furzedown.  Her design will now feature on Sadiq’s Christmas card, which has been sponsored by local businesses.

The runners-up were, Alesanndra Anderson-Scatto from Fircroft Primary School, Bella Leadbetter from Trinity St Mary’s Primary School, Kornelija Abromaviciute from Eardley Primary School, Evie Nosworthy from Ravenstone Primary School and Isabella Towns from Furzedown Primary School.

The judging panel was made of notable local residents and community leaders, including the Rev.Osoba Otaigbe of Tooting Junction Baptist Church, Rev. CJ Davies of St Nicholas Church, Helen Dorfman, Head Teacher at Burntwood School and Denise Broad, Musical Director of the Great Gustos, a local community fundraising choir. 

The winner receives a certificate, a tour of House of Commons and a £10 book token, and each child who has entered will receive a certificate.

Sadiq Khan MP said, “The cards we have seen this year are a wonderful display of the incredible talent of our local children.

“I would like to congratulate all the children who entered the competition; they should be incredibly proud of their efforts.

“I very much look forward to sending out the winning design this year as my Christmas card”.

Denise Broad said, “I found the judging to be very difficult as the standard of the competition was so high!  Every school has done exceptionally well and everyone’s a winner in my eyes”.

Rev. Osoba Otaigbe said, “It was very interesting and inspiring, good to see the different designs from different schools.

I would like to thank Sadiq Khan for organising such a brilliant competiton.

Christmas is a celebration of joy, hope and peace as we remember the birth of Jesus Christ.
