| Update on Springfield Hospital |

While the events of the last week continue to dominate the news I’d like to update you on the latest on the Springfield Hospital development and the hospital’s appeal against its refused planning application. I have now received official confirmation that the appeal will be head at a Public Inquiry, which will start on 8th November 2011. The Secretary of State will then take the decision on whether to grant planning permission for the development (I wrote to Eric Pickles MP, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to request this). All of the original representations made by local residents (and myself) will be considered at the inquiry. Please ensure you quote the relevant reference numbers in your correspondence. - Main development: APP/H5960/A/11/2156427 - Demolition of cartilage listed buildings: APP/H5960/E/11/2156424 The inquiry will also allow residents to cross-examine expert witnesses making the case for the development. I will provide more detail on this in the future, but for the time being general information on taking part in the inquiry can be found at the Planning Inspectorate’s websitehere.
