I was extremely upset yesterday to hear that the Sivayogam Temple on Upper Tooting Road had been the victim of an arson attack. Their ‘Chariot’ – which many residents will recognise from the annual ‘Chariot festival march’ that travels through Tooting in August - was destroyed on Wednesday night after four mindless vandals set fire to it. The police have yet to make any arrests, but I would appeal for any residents who may have witnessed this to come forward and speak to the police. This is a terrible thing to happen, and we will not stand for it as a community. |
