The 2008 Summer Reading Challenge aims to keep over 650,000 young people reading over their summer holiday. The most popular books chosen through surveys of 16 schools, including Earlsfield Primary School in Tooting, were presented to the MPs at the reception. The books chosen in the survey were presented by a small delegation of young people from Earlsfield Primary School, who were joined by the children's author Francesca Simon. The students that took part in the survey believe that all politicians should read the books they chose in order to better understand the lives and concerns of a young person today.
