Town Centre Policing Update

The brand new Tooting Town Centre police Safer Neighbourhood Team have just produced their July 2009 report.

The team has agreed its focus will be on reducing anti-social behaviour on Mitcham Road, and has a productive month tackling crime in the area.  The highlight so far has been the arrest of six people for possession of offensive weapons, money laundering and cannabis production as part of an operation at Tooting Broadway Tube Station.

Town Centre policing surgery

  • The Town Centre policing team holds a weekly surgery at the Police Shop inside Tooting Islamic Centre on Upper Tooting Road, 11.30am-1.30pm every Saturday.
  • In addition to these the Town Centre Team will be holding monthly surgeries around the town centre which provide an opportunity for the local community to meet the team, inform them of any issues you might have concerns about give feedback on town centre policing.

  • The first surgery will be held at McDonalds, Mitcham Road, on August 5th between 1300-1500.
Property Marking Session
  • The team will also be  running a property marking session outside Tooting Broadway Tube Station on Saturday 18th July between 1300-1700.
  • Officers can mark your property and provide crime prevention advice.
