Tooting’s older residents will be receiving their Winter Fuel Payments on the 21st or 22nd November – but many people who are eligible for the payments still do not receive them. Sadiq wants to make sure that all eligible Tooting residents receive the payment, which provides up to £400 to help with winter fuel bills. You may get a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2009–10 if were aged 60 or over, on or before 27 September 2009 and were resident in the UK between 21st and 27th September 2009. In most cases residents aged between 60 and 79 will receive £250, which rises to £400 for residents over the age of 80. Couples who live together can receive between £250 and £400. Sadiq Khan MP said, “It’s really important that everyone who is eligible get their fuel payment this winter, I don’t want anyone to miss out." “If you’re over the age of 60 you should automatically get the payment." “If you think you should get the Winter Fuel Payment and haven’t received it before call the Winter Fuel helpline on 0845 915 1515 – make sure you have your National Insurance number to hand when you call." “There are no long forms to fill in, and it could get you up to £400 to help with your bills.” For more information you can visit the government's Winter Fuel Allowance help page here
