Sadiq Khan MP was a guest speaker at a Walthamstow meeting organised as part of the 'Together We Are Stronger' project. The initiative aims to celebrate good relationships between communities in Walthamstow. Fellow MP Neil Gerrard and community campaigner Stella Creasy urged local residents to be proud of the dynamism diversity brings to Walthamstow as they held a meeting to showcase to a national audience the talent of E17’s black and ethnic minority community. As part of this work both Neil Gerrard and Stella Creasy have been holding regular campaigning activities in Walthamstow to raise awareness of how local people can help tackle the threat posed to London by the British National Party. Speaking about the event Sadiq Khan MP said: “The people we met from E17 were inspirational in the things they do within their local community. Whether working to provide day and night shelters, youth activities, local business people or voluntary group leaders its clear Walthamstow benefits from the enthusiasm and passion of this audience for their community. It’s a great pleasure to be able to participate in such an event – Neil and Stella are clearly working hard for Walthamstow and with local people such as this it’s easy to see why they are so proud of their home patch.” Over sixty people attended the evening at the House of Commons.
