I have recently been contacted by a large number of my constituents regarding their growing concern at the state of postal services within the constituency, following the numerous postal strikes that have recently taken place. 

This issue is affecting people on a number of levels including; delays in getting letters that they have sent to their desired location, delays in receiving important and sometimes time sensitive documentation, non delivery of benefits and in some cases no post at all for the last few weeks. I am personally being affected in my own work, in that my correspondence with and on behalf of constituents is being delayed.

In order to address these concerns I have written directly to the Chief Executive of Royal Mail Group Ltd, Adam Crozier to ask him to explain the full extent of the problem in the London region and to also explain what contingency plans are in place to deal with the backlog created by the ongoing industrial action. 

I have also written to the Minister for Business, The Rt Hon. Pat McFadden MP, and also the Communication Workers Union.

Because of the obvious delays I have also faxed my letters to ensure that they reach the Mr Crozier, Pat McFadden MP and the CWU.

I’ve also been in contact with 3 sorting offices who service our constituency. I will continue to speak with them regularly to ensure there is as minimal disruption as possible.
