Saturday the 7th of July was a day of summer fairs and fêtes in our schools across Tooting. I was invited to be the special guest at four local primary schools and join in with their festivities and fun. The four schools were Broadwater Primary School, Fircroft Primary School, Franciscan School Primary School and Garratt Park School. Each school put on a fantastic day for their guests with stalls, raffles, entertainment and plenty to do. The whole day was brilliant, and I can't wait to see how they top these celebrations next year. To see a picture of me with Marian, from Franciscan Primary School, at their Summer Fair please click HERE. I met Sonny Rehal, whose child attends Broadwater Primary School, at their Summer Fair (to see a photo, please click HERE). I had the special-guest duty of announcing the raffle winners at Broadwater's Fair. Click HERE to see a picture of Sadiq with Irene Parks, Headteacher of Garratt Park School, and a parent helper preparing food in the school kitchen for their Summer Fair. I also attended the White Pigeon Sports Day. More than 250 local children took part in this amazing day. I felt privileged to be able to hand out trophies and certificates to the winners and competitors. On Sunday, I joined Furzedown's excellent Labour Councillors John Farebrother and Judi Gasser as well as the local campaign team meeting residents in streets in Furzedown Ward. The main issues raised were the need for both cleaner streets and controlled parking. I will be making representations on behalf of the local residents to the Council, who are responsible for both. |
